Yoyo’s Beach : Surfer’s Paradise

Vast expanse of the sea, surrounded by many hills, and the roar of the waves become the melodious rhythm of the main attraction Yoyo's Beach. Yoyo's Beach is one of the many beaches located in the Sekongkang Bawah village, Sekongkang district, West Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. So if you visit the Yoyo's Beach, it will find that the beach is very clean and quiet. Even sometimes, at certain hours, you can be the only person who is at the Yoyo's Beach.

Actually, Yoyo name has a meaning. Yo-yo as we know it as a children's game played by throwing a roundabout that is connected by a rope that is tied around the finger. If we can play well, then we can form a variety of shapes mainly twisted it. Yoyo beach itself has very good waves, can even be said to be perfect. Because of the perfect circular shape created by the waves on the beach so as to resemble the shape yoyo game and finally the beaches named Yoyo.

Pesir Beach: from Sea Urchins to Surfing

If you go to the beach, what activities do you do? For what you go to the beach? In general, for a vacation, relax, play with water and sand. Some people go to a beach especially for sunbathing, or surfing for surfers. Or even possible for a pair, they go to the beach to see the sunset and spend the evening.

But in Sekongkang, Sumbawa, when you go to the beach there is a unique activity that you can try and do. This activity is usually done at Pesir Beach. Peoples of Sekongkang call this beach 'Pesir', but some people write with 'peser', 'pesir' or 'peserr'.

Location of Pesir Beach adjacent to Lawar Beach. You can get there by way of land next to the office of village hall Sekongkang Bawah. The distance is about 1km from asphalt road or 30 minutes by motorcycle. Of the road next to the village hall office, straight course, until you pass Lawar Botanical Garden, and then you find forked road, the right and left. For Pesir Beach you have left, be careful because the road is uneven and many shrubs. But if to the right you will get Lawar Beach. Do not worry, there is already a direction (sign), if you are still confused, ask to Sekongkang residents or passers-by.

So, what unique activities you can do at Pesir Beach, Sekongkang? You can search for sea urchin, or peoples of Sekongkang call bobo'. Typically, these activities are done by mothers in the afternoon due to low tide, and many marine animals are stuck on the reef. They seek bobo' to eat. Said Mrs. Rita (one of the Sekongkang Bawah people who often seek sea urchin), bobo' can be eaten straight (raw) or can also be cooked first. When raw, the taste is salted and fresh, more delicious when blended with mango, seaweed, and spice.

While there are looking for sea urchins, foreign tourists usually go to Pesir Beach in the afternoon for surfing. Because the waves at Pesir Beach pretty good and quiet in the afternoon. Moreover, very long coastline and pristine white sand make you linger at this beach.

Tropical Resort

One of the reasons why many foreign tourists who vacation in Sekongkang is because  already available facilities resorts and hotels in the beach location. Almost all beach areas in Sekongkang been owned by businessmen who have invested their assets in land and lodging. Almost all of them are businessmen from overseas in cooperation with local residents. But there are also some Indonesian businessmen.

From the some famous resort here, there is one resort that can be spelled the most famous in Sekongkang, it is Tropical Beach Club and Spa Resort. Its location right on Tropical beach. Tropical Resort and Spa provides many amenities that pamper the tourists, both surf lovers or beach lovers as a whole. Swimming pool, variety of room types, bar serving international food and beverage, and the gazebo with the lounge chairs overlooking the beach is the main attraction this resort. Not only that, other facilities such as wifi, billiard table, gym, the surfboard, rental cars and motorcycles are also available.

Tropical Resort is the most luxurious resort on the entire resort in Sekongkang Bawah. The resort owner and owner of Tropical lands are Mrs. Sri Wahyu 'White' or commonly known by the nickname, Mrs. Yuni. Mother of Andrew White (artist) bought land from one citizen Sekongkang Bawah. About 200 meters to east the Tropical resort, there is an airport whose construction is still half finished. Tropical Beach

The hordes cattle on road intercept our trip. Asphalt road along the village in Sekongkang still has a pretty good quality. Rarely found a hole, you'll only find the cow or horse patties that has dried up hahaha.. Here, road traffic can be said to be very deserted. Even though, super quality tires with body ford ranger, hilux, strada, matic motor, or stray cows also enjoy these public facilities. No wonder motorist spur vehicle above 40 km/h. Except this time, we reduce the speed even stopped to succumb to other road users. Yes, the trip to Tropical beach stopped by hordes of cattle was crossing.


When it going out from the settlement area of Sekongkang village, along the way I look, on the east side towering wooded hills and a variety of other living creatures that are hidden behind it. On the opposite side, the gardens with wooden fence stood upright, and estuary which flanked by Lawar Beach and Pesir Beach. There are some beautiful beaches that bypassed during the journey to the Tropical Beach. They are Pesir Beach, Santai Beach, Rantung Beach, and Yoyo Beach. Some beaches such as Santai Beach, Rantung Beach and Yoyo Beach has signpost markers. Not only indicates that there is beach but also a lounge bar, restaurant, and homestay.

The winding road to the south ended with the discovery of a marker that reads Tropical Beach at the intersection of four. The intersection of four is not so clear because the road to the east and to the west is no longer paved. If eastwards towards Townside, while to the west is the direction of my destination, Tropical Beach. Less than 1 kilometer, there is Tropical Resort and Spa. This resort like be a portal to Tropical Beach. Do not worry, if just to be able enjoy the beach, you do not need to entrance the resort and not have to pay, no ticket or free. A Bit Taste of Heaven

A bit taste of heaven is a tagline that we created for this website. Tagline that sort of slogan that is usually used for brand marketing and advertising materials. The idea behind this concept is to create a memorable phrase that reinforces the memory of other people or users of products. This is one of our ways to package and branding this website as a product that easily can be enjoyed by visitors.

Tagline creation was spearheaded by a team of KKN-PPM UGM (Unit NTB 11). Creation of this website is also one of their programs while serving in rural communities Sekongkang Bawah, Sekongkang district, West Sumbawa, Indonesia.

Why this website tagline like that?
Sekongkang, our hometown is an area with a lot of potential. One was from the mining sector, agriculture, and tourism. Wealth from the bowels of the earth were excavated in mining generate substantial revenue that has sustained people's lives here. Not only that, agriculture is also a wealth of other assets of the Sekongkang region. And when you look at this area as a tourist, you will find the coast with white sand, clear blue water, cliffs and hills on either side of the beach is looming, the location of surfing with challenging waves for a try, sunrise and sunset are not inferior to beach in Bali or Lombok, as well as accommodation (resort) that is very sufficient. One more reason which increasingly make you while in this place where feels like a taste of heaven is a real culture Sekongkang that unique and diverse. Flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, August 17, 2013 in the district Sekongkang place exciting. The ceremony was attended by all walks of life, ranging from students, university students, civil servants / KORPRI, TNI / Police, figures / religious / community and lasted from 7:00-8:00 pm at the district office Sekongkang front yard.

Independence Day commemoration ceremony is more spectacular when the raising of the Red and White were escorted by 25 soldiers flag raisers (paskibra) and accompanied by the national anthem Indonesia Raya sung by the students of SMA Negeri 1 Sekongkang. Mr Sirajuddin, the head Sekongkang district, as the ceremony of West Sumbawa Regent recited mandate to inspire the spirit of patriotism, nationalism, unity and integrity of the people of West Sumbawa. There is also the anniversary of independence song sung with enthusiasm by students of SMAN 1 Sekongkang.

In the afternoon, at 16:30 to 17:00 pm carried the flag lowering ceremony participants only some of the participants at the morning ceremony (flag raising). Perpas Waterfall

Perpas waterfall located in the Kemuning village, Sekongkang district, West Sumbawa. This tourist spot are rarely visited by tourists. If you would like to visit these places, you can travel from Lombok or Mataram to Sekongkang by using private vehicle or public transportation. When using public transport you can go up DAMRI, from near the terminal Mataram to Sekongkang with an estimated time of 5 hours and a rate of about 75,000 IDR. After arriving in Sekongkang you must go into the street beside Police Station Sekongkang. It is the pathway to the river that will take you to the Perpas waterfall.

You will find exciting ways to get to the tourist sites. Due to these attractions are located in the dense forest, then you must follow the directions in the form of a pink ribbon. There are two paths to the waterfall Perpas. The first route is through the right side of the river and into the woods. While the second route is through the left side of the river and into the woods. However, in this second path to the waterfall can be quite wide. Sekongkang located in West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. These district located on the southern most tip of West Sumbawa has a distance of about 37 Km from the capital city of Taliwang district.
