Pesir Beach: from Sea Urchins to Surfing

If you go to the beach, what activities do you do? For what you go to the beach? In general, for a vacation, relax, play with water and sand. Some people go to a beach especially for sunbathing, or surfing for surfers. Or even possible for a pair, they go to the beach to see the sunset and spend the evening.

But in Sekongkang, Sumbawa, when you go to the beach there is a unique activity that you can try and do. This activity is usually done at Pesir Beach. Peoples of Sekongkang call this beach 'Pesir', but some people write with 'peser', 'pesir' or 'peserr'.

Location of Pesir Beach adjacent to Lawar Beach. You can get there by way of land next to the office of village hall Sekongkang Bawah. The distance is about 1km from asphalt road or 30 minutes by motorcycle. Of the road next to the village hall office, straight course, until you pass Lawar Botanical Garden, and then you find forked road, the right and left. For Pesir Beach you have left, be careful because the road is uneven and many shrubs. But if to the right you will get Lawar Beach. Do not worry, there is already a direction (sign), if you are still confused, ask to Sekongkang residents or passers-by.

So, what unique activities you can do at Pesir Beach, Sekongkang? You can search for sea urchin, or peoples of Sekongkang call bobo'. Typically, these activities are done by mothers in the afternoon due to low tide, and many marine animals are stuck on the reef. They seek bobo' to eat. Said Mrs. Rita (one of the Sekongkang Bawah people who often seek sea urchin), bobo' can be eaten straight (raw) or can also be cooked first. When raw, the taste is salted and fresh, more delicious when blended with mango, seaweed, and spice.

While there are looking for sea urchins, foreign tourists usually go to Pesir Beach in the afternoon for surfing. Because the waves at Pesir Beach pretty good and quiet in the afternoon. Moreover, very long coastline and pristine white sand make you linger at this beach.
